Toxic People vs. Kind People

Today, a friend of mine asked me a thought-provoking question: Why are some people toxic, and how should we treat them? She also wondered why kind-hearted people often seem to face more struggles in life. Her questions took me back to a time when I wrestled with the same thoughts.
Through reflection and spiritual journey, I realized that toxicity often stems from inner wounds, ignorance, or even emotional sickness. When people are sick or hurting, their behavior reflects their struggles. So, how do we respond? If their "sickness" is terminal, something they can’t change, then we offer love and compassion. If it’s curable, we help them heal. And if ignorance is the root cause, we educate them with patience.
As for kind people facing hardships, I’ve learned that kindness isn’t the cause of their struggles, it’s the result. Life’s challenges and struggles shape their character and strengthen their values. Choosing righteousness over shortcuts like manipulation or dishonesty isn’t easy, but it builds resilience and integrity.
Both toxic people and kind people teach us something valuable: the importance of empathy, growth, and standing firm in our values. Life’s struggles and challenges may not be easy, but they make us who we are.
